CFD Investments, Inc. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
January 29, 2026– Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving CFD Investments, Inc., following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the filing, CFD Investments identified unauthorized access to an employee’s email account. A subsequent investigation determined that the unauthorized access occurred between March 15, 2025, and May 9, 2025. After reviewing the affected emails and attachments, CFD Investments concluded on December 16, 2025, that certain personal information had been exposed.
The information potentially involved includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account information. CFD Investments reported that ten Maine residents were affected. Written notification letters were sent to impacted individuals on January 28, 2026.
CFD Investments stated that it took steps to secure the affected email account, enhanced existing security measures, and is offering one year of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services to impacted individuals.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether CFD Investments, Inc. maintained reasonable data security practices, whether the unauthorized access could have been prevented, and whether affected individuals may have legal claims.
