1st MidAmerica Credit Union Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

February 2, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving 1st MidAmerica Credit Union, following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.

According to the filing, 1st MidAmerica Credit Union was notified by one of its vendors, Marquis Software Solutions, of a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to the vendor’s systems. The incident occurred on or about August 14, 2025, and a subsequent review determined that certain files containing customer data may have been accessed without authorization.

The information potentially involved includes first and last names and Social Security numbers. The credit union reported that seven Maine residents were affected and that written notice was mailed to impacted individuals on January 22, 2026. Affected individuals are being offered 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether appropriate vendor oversight and data protection measures were in place, whether the incident could have been prevented, and whether affected individuals may have legal claims.

The potentially compromised information may include:

  • Name
  • Social Security number
  • Other sensitive information
