Whittaker & Company Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (June 30, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a law firm specializing in data breach litigation and consumer protection, has initiated an investigation into a recently disclosed data breach involving Whittaker & Company, a California-based firm. The breach, which was formally reported to the Attorney General of Maine, exposed the personal information of at least one Maine resident.
According to the disclosure, Whittaker & Company experienced unauthorized access to its computer network between February 28, 2025, and March 13, 2025. The company launched an internal investigation with the assistance of a third-party cybersecurity firm and notified law enforcement authorities. On May 29, 2025, it was determined that one or more accessed files contained sensitive personal information, including the individual’s name and Social Security number.
Whittaker & Company began issuing written notifications to affected individuals on June 27, 2025, and is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services through Kroll. A dedicated toll-free support center has also been established for affected parties seeking assistance.
Federman & Sherwood is examining whether Whittaker & Company’s data security practices met industry standards and if affected individuals are entitled to legal remedies.
