WEL Companies, Inc. (“WEL”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 20, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces it is investigating a significant data breach involving WEL Companies, Inc. (“WEL”), following the company’s filing with the Attorney General of Maine and its distribution of notification letters to affected individuals.
According to the regulatory notice, WEL identified unusual activity on its network on January 31, 2025. The company immediately secured its digital environment and engaged an independent cybersecurity firm to conduct a forensic investigation. The investigation determined that certain files were acquired without authorization on March 28, 2025.
After completing a comprehensive data review to determine the types of information involved and the individuals affected, WEL concluded on November 12, 2025, that the personal information of 515 Maine residents may have been compromised.
Although Conduent is not offering complimentary credit monitoring services, it instructs individuals to review their credit reports, consider fraud alerts or security freezes, and remain vigilant against potential identity theft.
WEL states that, at this time, there is no evidence of misuse or attempted misuse of any personal information related to the incident.
WEL mailed notification letters to all affected Maine residents on November 18, 2025, providing information about the incident and steps individuals can take to protect themselves. As part of its response, WEL is offering complimentary identity monitoring services through Kroll.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether WEL maintained reasonable and adequate cybersecurity measures, whether the breach was preventable, and what legal rights may be available to affected individuals—including potential compensation.
The compromised information may have included:
- Full name
- Social Security number
- Driver’s license number
- Other sensitive information
