Wayne Memorial Hospital Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (September 9, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Wayne Memorial Hospital, located in Jesup, Georgia. According to a notice filed with the Attorney General of Maine, the hospital experienced a ransomware attack that exposed sensitive personal information of approximately 163,440 individuals nationwide, including 34 Maine residents.

The hospital discovered the breach on June 3, 2024, after an unauthorized third party gained access to its systems, encrypted data, and left a ransom note. An investigation revealed that the attacker had access to certain systems between May 30, 2024, and June 3, 2024.

On August 27, 2025, Wayne Memorial Hospital mailed notification letters to affected individuals. The hospital is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Cyberscout.
