Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 24, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving VITAS Hospice Services, LLP, following the company’s filing with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.

According to the public filing, VITAS Hospice Services reported that 5,633 Texas residents were impacted by a security incident involving sensitive personal information. The compromised data includes names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical information, health insurance information, and dates of birth.

The company notified affected consumers through U.S. Mail and publication in print media, with the breach posted on the Texas Attorney General’s website on November 21, 2025. While the filing does not detail the cause of the breach, the breadth of information exposed places impacted individuals at heightened risk of identity theft, medical identity fraud, and other misuse.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether VITAS implemented reasonable data protection measures, whether the breach could have been prevented, and what legal rights affected Texans may have under state and federal law.

The compromised information may have included:

  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Date of birth
