Velocity Risk Underwriters, LLC (“Velocity”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 28, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a respected law firm specializing in data breach and consumer protection litigation, has initiated an investigation into a data breach involving Velocity Risk Underwriters, LLC (“Velocity”). The breach, which was reported to the Office of the Attorney General of Maine on July 25, 2025, potentially affected personal information belonging to residents of Maine and other individuals nationwide.
According to the filing, the breach originated from a cybersecurity incident involving WaterStreet Company, a third-party vendor previously used by Velocity to host sensitive data. On March 17, 2025, WaterStreet identified suspicious activity in its systems. A subsequent investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain data maintained by WaterStreet, which included information related to Velocity’s business clients and their associated individuals.
The information potentially exposed in the breach includes names, financial account information, and Social Security numbers or Tax Identification Numbers. WaterStreet provided Velocity with the affected data files on June 26, 2025. At present, no misuse of the compromised data has been reported.
As part of its response, WaterStreet is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring services to affected individuals. The company has also implemented enhanced security measures and is reevaluating its data security protocols.
