United Underwriters Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
September 23, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating the United Underwriters data breach following a notification filed with the California Attorney General.
United Underwriters reported that it identified suspicious activity on certain systems and initiated its incident response procedures and a forensic investigation with third-party experts. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor downloaded certain files from United Underwriters’ systems. The notice states that affected information was downloaded by the actor on May 1, 2026.

United Underwriters reported that it enhanced its security and monitoring controls following the incident. It is also offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.
The complimentary services include single-bureau credit monitoring, a single-bureau credit report and credit score, and proactive fraud assistance.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether United Underwriters maintained reasonable cybersecurity safeguards to protect sensitive information and whether additional measures could have prevented or reduced the impact of the data breach.
