Southern California University of Health Sciences Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

May 27, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer protection law firm, is investigating the Southern California University of Health Sciences data breach, a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to sensitive personal information that was disclosed in a notice filed with the California Attorney General.

According to the notice, Southern California University of Health Sciences (“SCUHS”) became aware of unauthorized activity on its computer network on or about March 24, 2026. The university reportedly launched an immediate response with assistance from outside cybersecurity specialists to secure its systems and investigate the scope of the incident.

The investigation determined that certain files stored within the SCUHS network environment were viewed and copied by an unauthorized actor between March 23 and March 24, 2026. SCUHS then conducted a comprehensive review of the impacted files to determine what information was involved and identify affected individuals.

The information potentially exposed includes individuals’ names and other sensitive personal information.

Cybersecurity incidents involving universities and educational institutions are particularly concerning because they may expose sensitive student, employee, healthcare, and financial information that can be used for identity theft and fraud.

Federman & Sherwood is actively investigating whether Southern California University of Health Sciences implemented adequate cybersecurity safeguards and whether this data security incident could have been prevented.
