Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, P.C. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 18, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data breach involving Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, P.C., a law firm headquartered at 250 W Pratt Street, Baltimore, Maryland. The firm filed a data breach notification with the Attorney General of Maine after determining that unauthorized access to its systems resulted in the potential compromise of personal information.
According to the notification, Semmes, Bowen & Semmes experienced an external system breach (hacking) between January 8, 2025, and March 27, 2025. The unauthorized activity was discovered on October 27, 2025, prompting the firm to conduct a comprehensive forensic investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity specialists. The review determined that an unauthorized actor may have accessed or acquired files containing personal information belonging to individuals, including one Maine resident.
The information potentially impacted includes an individual’s name or other personal identifiers in combination with additional sensitive information.
Written notification was mailed to the affected Maine resident on November 14, 2025. The firm has stated that it implemented additional safeguards to enhance the security and monitoring of its systems following the incident.
To assist impacted individuals, Semmes, Bowen & Semmes is offering 12 months of complimentary identity protection services through TransUnion, including credit monitoring and identity restoration assistance.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Semmes, Bowen & Semmes, P.C. took appropriate and reasonable steps to secure the personal information in its care and whether affected individuals may be entitled to compensation, extended credit monitoring, or other legal remedies.
