Select Medical Holdings, Inc. (“Select”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (June 9, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data security incident involving Nationwide Recovery Services, Inc. (“NRS”), a former debt collection vendor for Select Medical Holdings, Inc. (“Select”), which may have resulted in the unauthorized access to the sensitive personal information of Select guarantors.

According to official disclosures, NRS detected suspicious activity on its computer systems on or around July 11, 2024, after experiencing a significant network outage. A subsequent investigation revealed that an unauthorized third party accessed the NRS network between July 5 and July 11, 2024, and copied files containing personal data.

The breached files were found to contain information belonging to guarantors of Select Medical. The types of personal data potentially involved include names and Social Security numbers. NRS completed its internal review of affected data on February 3, 2025, and informed Select of the impacted individuals on April 9, 2025.

In response, Select began notifying affected individuals by mail on June 6, 2025, including at least 208 residents of Maine, and is offering complimentary credit monitoring services. Select has since terminated its relationship with NRS.

Federman & Sherwood is currently investigating whether appropriate security measures were in place and whether impacted individuals may be entitled to legal recourse.
