Sax LLP Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (December 29, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data security incident involving Sax LLP, following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the filing, Sax identified unusual activity on its network on or about August 7, 2024, and launched an investigation with the assistance of independent cybersecurity experts. The investigation determined that certain data may have been accessed or acquired without authorization. Sax completed its review in December 2025 and subsequently notified affected individuals.
The information potentially involved varies by individual but may include names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license or state identification numbers, and passport numbers. Sax reported that approximately 244 Maine residents were affected. Notice was provided via U.S. mail, and identity protection services were offered to certain individuals.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Sax implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards and whether additional measures could have prevented the incident. The firm is also evaluating potential legal remedies available to affected individuals.
