SAFE Credit Union Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (August 1, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data breach incident recently disclosed by SAFE Credit Union, based in Folsom, California. The breach was reported in a notice filed with the California Attorney General, indicating that unauthorized skimming devices were discovered at multiple ATM locations in the greater Sacramento area.

According to SAFE Credit Union’s notification, unauthorized devices were placed at the following ATM locations:

  • 7475 Madison Avenue, Citrus Heights, CA
  • 1250 Howe Avenue, Sacramento, CA

Transactions conducted at these ATMs between May 6, 2025, and July 15, 2025, may have resulted in unauthorized access to sensitive member data, including:

  • Cardholder names
  • Debit, credit, or ATM card numbers
  • Associated PINs

SAFE Credit Union stated it is proactively monitoring affected accounts and assured members they will not be liable for any unauthorized charges. The credit union is also offering card replacements and urging impacted members to carefully review their account activity and respond promptly to fraud alerts.

Federman & Sherwood is currently investigating the scope of the incident, whether adequate security measures were in place, and what legal options may be available to those affected. If you received a notification letter from SAFE Credit Union regarding this incident or believe your card may have been compromised, you may be entitled to compensation or other relief.
