Riddle & Butts, LLP Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
March 11, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Riddle & Butts, LLP following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the notice, Riddle & Butts recently became aware of suspicious activity within its network environment and promptly launched an investigation. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to the firm’s network between December 30, 2025 and January 7, 2026 and copied certain files.
After discovering the activity, Riddle & Butts conducted a detailed review of all potentially impacted files to determine what information was present and to whom it related. This review was completed on February 12, 2026. At this time, the firm reports that it has no evidence of fraudulent use of the affected information as a result of the incident.
The information potentially involved includes individuals’ names and other personal information.
Riddle & Butts reported that it has implemented enhanced security protocols and is taking additional steps to strengthen its cybersecurity safeguards. As a precaution, the firm is offering affected individuals twenty-four months of complimentary credit monitoring services.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether appropriate security measures were in place and whether affected individuals may have legal claims related to this cybersecurity incident.
