Promises2Kids (“Promises”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (May 19, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer privacy and data breach law firm, is investigating a data breach involving Promises2Kids (“Promises”), a San Diego-based nonprofit organization serving foster children and families.
On May 12, 2025, Promises2Kids notified potentially impacted individuals that their personal information may have been compromised in a cybersecurity incident. According to the organization, unauthorized access to its computer systems was first detected in September 2024. A forensic investigation later revealed that certain sensitive information, including names and other personal identifiers, may have been accessed or acquired without authorization.
While Promises2Kids reports no evidence that any personal information has been misused to date, the breach may involve a significant number of individuals and sensitive data. As a precaution, Promises2Kids is offering complimentary credit monitoring services through Equifax.
