Powerhouse Retail Services Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
February 4, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Powerhouse Retail Services, following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the filing, Powerhouse Retail Services determined that an unauthorized individual gained access to its network and may have viewed a limited amount of data. The company reported that the unauthorized access likely occurred on or about September 20, 2023, and that it completed its investigation on January 22, 2026, at which time it confirmed that certain personal information may have been accessed or acquired without authorization.
The information potentially involved includes individuals’ names and other personal identifiers, including Social Security numbers, depending on the affected individual. Powerhouse Retail Services stated that it has no evidence at this time that the information has been misused.
As part of its response, Powerhouse Retail Services reported that it is offering affected individuals complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Epiq Privacy Solutions. The company also stated that it worked with external cybersecurity professionals and implemented additional safeguards to enhance the security of its systems.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Powerhouse Retail Services implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards, whether the incident could have been prevented, and whether individuals impacted by the breach may have legal claims.
