Plaxen Adler Muncy, P.A. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
August 12, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer protection law firm, is investigating the Plaxen Adler Muncy, P.A. (“PAM”) data breach following a cybersecurity incident involving sensitive personal information.
According to the notice filed with the Nebraska Attorney General, PAM identified unauthorized activity within its network on May 18, 2026. PAM secured its network, launched an investigation, and engaged a cybersecurity firm. The investigation determined that an unauthorized actor took certain files from PAM’s systems between May 13 and May 18, 2026. PAM completed its review of the affected files on July 17, 2026.
The investigation determined that the affected files contained the name and Social Security number of approximately one Nebraska resident, with additional individuals potentially affected nationwide. PAM began mailing notification letters on August 10, 2026.
PAM is offering the affected individual one year of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through Epiq. The services include credit monitoring, Social Security number monitoring, dark web monitoring, identity restoration assistance, and identity theft insurance. PAM also states that it is taking steps to enhance its security measures following the incident.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Plaxen Adler Muncy, P.A. implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards to protect sensitive personal information and whether additional security measures could have prevented the incident. The firm is also evaluating potential legal claims arising from the data breach.
The exposure of names and Social Security numbers may place affected individuals at increased risk of identity theft, tax fraud, financial fraud, and other forms of misuse.
