PeopleGuru Holdings, Inc. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (October 21, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating the data breach involving PeopleGuru Holdings, Inc. (“PeopleGuru”), a Tampa, Florida–based human capital management and payroll software provider. According to data breach notifications filed with the Attorneys General of Maine and California, PeopleGuru experienced a cybersecurity incident that exposed sensitive personal information belonging to individuals whose data was maintained on its systems.
On July 9, 2025, PeopleGuru discovered that an unauthorized third party had gained access to certain systems within its network. The company’s internal investigation determined that the unauthorized access occurred between July 6 and July 9, 2025, during which certain information may have been viewed or taken without permission. PeopleGuru confirmed that the affected data may include names, Social Security numbers, financial account information, dates of birth, passport numbers, driver’s license numbers, medical information, and health insurance details.
While PeopleGuru stated there is no evidence of identity theft or fraud resulting from this incident, the company has begun notifying affected individuals and is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity restoration services through TransUnion and Cyberscout, a TransUnion company specializing in fraud remediation.
Federman & Sherwood’s investigation will focus on whether PeopleGuru implemented appropriate data security protocols to safeguard personal and financial information and whether affected individuals are entitled to relief under federal or state data protection laws.
