Ohio Medical Alliance LLC Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (August 21, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is actively investigating a significant data exposure incident involving Ohio Medical Alliance LLC (operating under the brand Ohio Marijuana Card), after a publicly available 323 GB database was discovered to contain extremely sensitive medical cannabis patient data.
According to published reports, security researcher Jeremiah Fowler identified an unencrypted and publicly accessible database containing approximately 957,434 records of individuals seeking medical cannabis IDs. The data included images of driver’s licenses and other state-issued IDs, names, physical addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, intake forms, physician certifications, mental health evaluations, and other protected health and personal information.
One particularly alarming file—a plaintext CSV titled “staff comments”—contained internal notes on clients, appointment status, and personal situations. That same document also included an estimated 210,620 email addresses of clients, staff, and business partners.
Fowler reported his findings to Ohio Medical Alliance on July 14, 2025, and by July 15, the database was no longer publicly accessible.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating this matter to determine the full impact on individuals and to ensure that those affected understand their legal rights and potential remedies.
