Norway Savings Bank (“NSB”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 24, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national law firm specializing in data breach and consumer-protection litigation, is investigating a data security incident involving a third-party vendor of Norway Savings Bank (“NSB”). The incident was disclosed through a customer notification letter filed with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the notice, on August 14, 2025, an external actor gained unauthorized access to portions of a third-party data services provider’s environment. Importantly, the intrusion did not involve NSB’s internal systems. NSB received updates during the investigation conducted by cybersecurity experts, which concluded on October 27, 2025. The review determined that certain customer information stored by the vendor may have been exposed.
The data potentially compromised includes customers’ names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, tax identification numbers, and financial account information. Norway Savings Asset Management Group accounts were not affected.
In response to the incident, NSB is providing impacted individuals with free identity theft protection and credit monitoring services through IDX, including monitoring tools, a $1,000,000 insurance reimbursement policy, and access to fully managed identity recovery assistance.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether NSB and its third-party vendor implemented and maintained adequate data security safeguards as required under state and federal law. Data breaches involving sensitive personal information can create long-term risks, including identity theft and financial fraud. Our firm is committed to determining what occurred, whether the breach could have been prevented, and what rights affected consumers may have.
The compromised information may have included:
- Full name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Tax identification number
