Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney, APC (“MPBF”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 20, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data security incident involving Murphy, Pearson, Bradley & Feeney, APC (“MPBF”), a San Francisco–based law firm, following MPBF’s recent filing with the Attorney General of Maine and its issuance of consumer notification letters.
According to the regulatory notice, MPBF discovered suspicious activity on its network on April 10, 2025 and immediately secured its systems. The firm engaged independent cybersecurity specialists to investigate the intrusion and determine the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation revealed that certain files may have been accessed or acquired without authorization.
After conducting a detailed file review, MPBF determined on or about November 11, 2025, that personal information belonging to certain individuals—including one Maine resident—was contained within the impacted data. While the types of affected information vary by individual, MPBF confirmed that the compromised data may have included Social Security numbers.
MPBF reports that it has no evidence of misuse or attempted misuse of any impacted information. The firm has implemented additional security measures to help prevent future incidents and has notified affected individuals by first-class U.S. mail on November 18, 2025. In addition, MPBF is offering complimentary identity protection services through Kroll, including credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether MPBF took reasonable and appropriate steps to safeguard the highly sensitive personal information in its possession and whether individuals impacted by this breach may be entitled to compensation or other remedies.
The compromised information may have included:
- Full name
- Social Security number
- Other sensitive information
