Mehri & Skalet, PLLC Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 4, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into a recent data security incident involving Mehri & Skalet, PLLC, a Washington, D.C.–based law firm. The breach notification was filed with the Attorney General of Maine and notice letters have been issued to affected individuals regarding the unauthorized access of personal information.
According to the notice, Mehri & Skalet identified suspicious activity associated with an employee email account on May 20, 2025. An investigation determined that an unauthorized party gained access to the account and downloaded information on December 17, 2024.
The review revealed that impacted information may include individuals’ names and additional personal data elements, depending on the person. While Mehri & Skalet has stated there is currently no evidence of identity theft or misuse of information, they are offering affected individuals complimentary identity protection and credit monitoring services.
The firm reported that it secured the email system, launched a forensic investigation, notified law enforcement, and is taking additional cybersecurity measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
