MedPeds Data Breach – Investigation by Federman & Sherwood
March 18, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving MedPeds following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the filing, MedPeds discovered that on September 2, 2025, an unauthorized individual gained access to its computer system and deployed a virus that encrypted data. During the incident, certain patient data was accessed and viewed.
The information involved may include individuals’ names, dates of birth, home addresses, phone numbers, and medical records.
Upon discovering the incident, MedPeds worked with a forensic firm to restore its systems and implemented additional safeguards to enhance data security. The organization also contacted federal law enforcement authorities.
Affected individuals were notified on or about March 16, 2026 and provided with resources through IDX to assist with questions and identity protection.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether adequate safeguards were in place to protect sensitive medical and personal information and whether affected individuals may have legal claims.
The potentially compromised information may include:
- Name
- Social Security numbers
- Date of birth
- Address
- Phone number
- Medical information
- Health insurance information
- Other sensitive information
