Mariner Wealth Advisors Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

June 2, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer protection law firm, is investigating the Mariner Wealth Advisors data breach, a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized access to sensitive personal information that was reported to the Attorney General of Maine.

According to the notice, Mariner Wealth Advisors, LLC detected suspicious activity involving three associates’ cloud applications on or about November 24, 2025. The company immediately initiated its incident response procedures, secured the affected accounts, and engaged third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident.

The investigation determined that a criminal third party gained unauthorized access to the cloud applications and downloaded certain files. Following a comprehensive review of the affected files, Mariner determined that some of the files contained personally identifiable and non-public personal information belonging to clients and other individuals.

The information potentially exposed includes individuals’ names, account numbers, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, and other government-issued identification numbers.

Data breaches involving wealth management and financial advisory firms are particularly concerning because they may expose highly sensitive financial and personal information that can be used for identity theft, financial fraud, and unauthorized account activity.

Federman & Sherwood is actively investigating whether Mariner Wealth Advisors implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards and whether this data security incident could have been prevented. The firm is also evaluating potential legal claims on behalf of individuals affected by the Mariner Wealth Advisors data breach.

Mariner reported that financial accounts, investment accounts, and other client accounts were maintained on separate systems that were not affected by the incident. The company also stated that it secured the affected cloud applications, notified law enforcement and regulatory authorities, enhanced cybersecurity measures, and is offering affected individuals twelve (12) months of complimentary credit monitoring and fraud assistance services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company.

Consumers who received a notice regarding the Mariner Wealth Advisors data breach or who believe their personal information may have been compromised are encouraged to monitor their financial accounts, investment accounts, and credit reports for suspicious activity.
