LaBovick Law Group Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 17, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces it is investigating a data breach involving LaBovick Law Group, a Florida-based law firm, following a ransomware attack that compromised sensitive personal information of current and former clients—including individuals residing in the state of Maine.
According to the data breach notice filed with the Maine Attorney General’s Office, LaBovick Law Group discovered unauthorized access to one of its servers on October 23, 2024. The attack, which began around October 7, 2024, was carried out by a well-known ransomware group. Despite existing cybersecurity measures, the intruders were able to exfiltrate client data from the affected server before LaBovick’s IT department and cybersecurity partners contained the breach.
The types of sensitive personal information affected may include:
- Names
- Addresses
- Dates of birth
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license or state ID numbers
- Bank account information
- Health insurance information and claims history
- Medical history and records
- Other sensitive information
In response to the incident, LaBovick engaged cybersecurity experts from Redpoint Cybersecurity, LLC, notified the FBI and other authorities, and paid a ransom on November 12, 2024, in exchange for confirmation from the attackers that the stolen data would be deleted. The firm has also implemented enhanced security protocols and is offering 24 months of complimentary identity theft protection and credit monitoring services through IDX.
Federman & Sherwood, a law firm experienced in data breach litigation, is investigating whether LaBovick Law Group had adequate safeguards in place to protect its clients’ personal information and whether additional legal remedies may be available to affected individuals.
