Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard (“Kronick”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (May 28, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data breach involving Kronick Moskovitz Tiedemann & Girard (“Kronick”), a full-service law firm based in California.
According to a notice sent to affected individuals, Kronick discovered unauthorized access to its network in August 2024. The breach was attributed to an unknown third party who briefly posted stolen data on a hidden dark web site. The law firm reports that the data is no longer posted, and at this time, there is no indication it was retained or further distributed.
Following discovery of the incident, Kronick promptly took defensive action by disconnecting its systems, resetting all passwords, and engaging third-party cybersecurity and forensic experts to conduct a thorough investigation. Law enforcement was also notified.
The investigation confirmed that the unauthorized party accessed Kronick’s internal systems and extracted files containing sensitive personal information.
This data was held by Kronick in connection with the legal services it provided to its clients.
To mitigate risk to impacted individuals, Kronick is offering 24 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Experian. The firm has also implemented enhanced cybersecurity protocols to prevent future incidents and is continuing to support federal law enforcement’s investigation.
The compromised information varied by individual but may have included:
- Name
- Social Security numbers
- Date of birth
- Driver’s license number
- Medical information
- Health insurance details
- Other sensitive information
