Kaplan North America, LLC Data Breach – Investigation by Federman & Sherwood
March 18, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Kaplan North America, LLC following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the filing, Kaplan identified unauthorized access to its computer network after an incident in which an unauthorized actor accessed company servers between October 30, 2025 and November 18, 2025 and obtained certain files.
Following an investigation and review of the affected files, Kaplan determined on February 21, 2026 that the compromised information included names in combination with Social Security numbers and/or driver’s license numbers.
Kaplan began mailing notification letters to affected individuals on March 17, 2026. The company is offering one year of complimentary credit monitoring and identity theft restoration services through Experian.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether appropriate data security measures were in place and whether affected individuals may have legal claims related to the breach.
The potentially compromised information may include:
- Name
- Social Security numbers
- Driver’s license numbers
- Other sensitive information
