Hackard Law Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (April 25, 2025) – Hackard Law recently reported a data breach to the Attorney General of Maine, confirming that sensitive and/or personal information in its care may have been compromised. The incident was initially discovered on November 12, 2024, when the firm identified unauthorized access to two employee email accounts. Following the discovery, Hackard Law immediately launched an investigation to understand the nature and scope of the breach.
Through this investigation, the firm determined that the unauthorized party may have accessed the compromised email accounts at various times prior to May 19, 2024, and again between May 21 and July 21, 2024. As a result, Hackard Law conducted a thorough review of the affected emails to identify the specific types of information involved and the individuals impacted.
In April 2025, the firm completed its review and began notifying affected individuals. On April 21, 2025, Hackard Law mailed data breach notification letters and published a notice on its website. According to the notice provided to Maine residents, the firm is offering complimentary credit monitoring services and included a list of the specific types of sensitive information that may have been exposed.
Federman & Sherwood is conducting an active investigation to determine the full extent of the breach, including whether any additional data was compromised and how widespread the exposure may be. The firm strongly encourages all affected individuals and organizations to remain alert and take appropriate measures to protect their personal and financial information.
