Greer Commission of Public Works (“Greer CPW”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 18, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces it is investigating a data breach involving the Greer Commission of Public Works (“Greer CPW”), following the organization’s filing of a data breach notification with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the notification, Greer CPW detected unusual activity within its network environment on June 26, 2025, and immediately engaged cybersecurity professionals and legal counsel to investigate. The investigation determined that, on or about June 19, 2025, an unauthorized actor accessed and copied certain files from its network without permission. Greer CPW completed a full review of the compromised data on November 6, 2025, confirming that personal information belonging to consumers was affected.
The information involved varies by individual but may include an individual’s name in combination with other identifying personal data. Although Greer CPW reports that it is unaware of any misuse of the information, it is notifying affected individuals out of an abundance of caution.
To support impacted individuals, Greer CPW is providing 12 months of complimentary identity protection services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company. These services include credit monitoring, credit report and score access, fraud alerts, and dedicated identity restoration support. Consumers have been provided an activation code and must enroll within 90 days of receiving their notification.
Greer CPW also reports that it has implemented additional cybersecurity safeguards and enhanced its system monitoring following the incident.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Greer CPW took appropriate measures to secure consumer data and whether impacted individuals may be entitled to compensation, additional identity protection services, or other legal remedies.
The compromised information may have included:
- Full name
- Social Security number
- Other sensitive information
