Gooding County, Idaho Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 14, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data breach involving Gooding County, Idaho. On July 11, 2025, the County notified affected individuals of a cybersecurity incident that exposed sensitive personal information.

According to the notification, Gooding County detected ransomware on its network on March 25, 2025. A subsequent investigation revealed that unauthorized individuals had access to the County’s systems between March 22 and March 25, 2025, during which time certain data was exfiltrated. The County has since determined that the compromised data may include sensitive personal information.

In response to the incident, Gooding County engaged third-party cybersecurity and forensic experts to contain the breach, alerted federal law enforcement, and took steps to strengthen its network security. These measures include enterprise-wide password resets, enhanced malware detection, and updated employee cybersecurity training. Affected individuals have been offered complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through Experian.
