Finastra Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 7, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a leading law firm with extensive experience in data privacy and cybersecurity litigation, is investigating a data breach involving Finastra, a global provider of financial software solutions.
According to a data breach notice filed with the Attorney General of Maine, Finastra discovered that an unauthorized third party accessed its Secure File Transfer Platform (SFTP) between October 31 and November 8, 2024. This platform was used by Finastra to provide technical and customer support to clients using certain products. On October 31, 2024, the unauthorized party obtained files containing personal information. Although Finastra believes the risk of misuse is low and has seen no indication of further unauthorized activity, it launched a comprehensive investigation and notified law enforcement, including the FBI.
Finastra’s investigation revealed that some individuals’ personal information was present in the compromised files. Impacted data may include names and other personally identifiable information. As a precaution, Finastra is offering affected individuals 24 months of complimentary identity monitoring services through Experian IdentityWorks.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating the incident to determine whether Finastra had sufficient safeguards in place to protect sensitive data.
