Federman & Sherwood Investigates UMC Health System for Data Breach

Oklahoma City, OK (December 2, 2024) – Federman & Sherwood investigates UMC Health System, for data breach. On November 22, 2024, UMC Health System filed notice of a data breach to the HHS’ Office for Civil Rights by Lubbock County Hospital District, the operator of UMC Health System. UMC Health System experienced a cybersecurity incident involving their network between September 17 and September 26, 2024. UMC Health System immediately launched an investigation into the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to the UMC Health System network and accessed certain individuals’ personal and sensitive information. On November 22, 2024, UMC Health System began to send out data breach notification letters to all individuals impacted by the data breach.

• Date of Birth
• Financial Account Information
• Health Insurance Information
• Social Security Number
• Driver’s License Number
• Other sensitive information
