Federman & Sherwood Investigates HRB Tax Group, Inc. for Data Breach

Oklahoma City, OK (December 20, 2024) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into HRB Tax Group, Inc. with respect to their recent data breach. On August 9, 2024, HRB Tax Group determined that between May 13, 2024 and August 7, 2024, an unauthorized third party appears to have used personally identifiable information obtained from sources other than H&R Block to obtain access to information associated with certain clients’ accounts or MyBlock accounts. As soon as HRB Tax Group became aware of this activity, they began an investigation and engaged third-party experts to assist in determining the nature and scope of the incident. The investigation determined that an unauthorized third-party may have accessed the following personal information: individuals name, Social Security number, individual taxpayer identification number, government-issued identification number, financial account information and date of birth.
