Oklahoma City, OK (December 4, 2024) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into Colonial Behavioral Health with respect to their recent data breach. On or about October 4, 2024, Colonial Behavioral Health discovered issues within its computer systems and quickly determined they were the victim of a ransomware incident. Colonial Behavioral Health immediately took steps to stop the ransomware and engaged outside cybersecurity experts to assist and investigate this event. Based on the investigation into this incident, it appears it began on or around May 17, 2024, when an unauthorized user logged into Colonial Behavioral Health’s systems undetected. Certain sensitive information may have been inappropriately accessed and/or obtained before ransomware encryption occurred to their IT systems on or about October 4. Colonial Behavioral Health determined that the following personal information was accessed: individuals name, Social Security number, address, ZIP code, driver’s license number, date of birth, clinical information (which may include diagnosis/conditions, lab results, medications and/or other treatment information), or information related to insurance or claims information.
