Oklahoma City, OK (November 22, 2024) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood has initiated an investigation into Central Carolina Insurance Agency with respect to their recent data breach. On March 20, 2024, Central Carolina Insurance Agency detected suspicious activity on its network. Upon discovery of this incident, Central Carolina Insurance Agency immediately disconnected all access to the network and promptly engaged a specialized cybersecurity firm and IT personnel to assist with securing the environment, as well as to conduct a forensic investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident. The forensic investigation concluded on or about April 23, 2024 determined that an unauthorized third party gained access to Central Carolina Insurance Agency’s network from December 31, 2023 to March 20, 2024 and accessed certain files. The files accessed contained the following personal information: individuals name, phone number, Social Security number, passport number, driver’s license number, license plate/vehicle identification number; financial account number, credit card number, health insurance policy number, date of birth, and/or protected health information including patient ID number, medical records, birth certificate, green card, digitized or electronic signature, and/or hull ID number.
