EMPIRE Distribution Inc. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (October 1, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it has launched an investigation into a data breach involving EMPIRE Distribution Inc. (“EMPIRE”), which recently reported a cybersecurity incident affecting personal information.
According to a notice filed with the Attorney General of Maine, EMPIRE became aware of a cyber incident on July 7, 2025, in which an unknown third party accessed certain internal systems and data. The company engaged cybersecurity experts to investigate and assess the impact of the breach.
The compromised data may have included individuals’ names, Social Security numbers, and/or bank account numbers. EMPIRE has clarified that if bank account numbers were involved, no associated security codes, access codes, or PINs were impacted.
In response, EMPIRE has reported the incident to federal law enforcement and has taken steps to strengthen its data security systems. The company is also offering affected individuals two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX, which include triple-bureau credit monitoring and dark web monitoring.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether EMPIRE took sufficient measures to protect the personal information entrusted to it and whether affected individuals may be entitled to legal remedies.
