East Bay Regional Park District Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (December 12, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national law firm representing individuals impacted by data breaches, is investigating a data security incident involving the East Bay Regional Park District (“Park District”), following its formal notice to the California Attorney General.

According to the notification letter, the Park District discovered that an employee improperly emailed a confidential attachment containing personal information to their personal email account on September 18, 2025. The attachment included sensitive personal data belonging to certain individuals.

Upon learning of the incident, the Park District initiated an immediate and thorough investigation, working with external legal counsel and conducting interviews and manual review of the email and its attachment. On November 12, 2025, the Park District determined that it could not confirm with certainty that the information was not accessed or viewed without authorization.

The Park District reports that the information involved includes an individual’s first and last name paired with a Social Security number. While the Park District states it has no current evidence of misuse, it is notifying affected individuals out of an abundance of caution and to comply with state law.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether East Bay Regional Park District maintained appropriate safeguards to protect sensitive personal data, whether this incident could have been prevented, and what rights affected individuals may have.

The compromised information may have included:

  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Other sensitive information
