Daniel H. Cook Associates, Inc. (“DHCA”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
January 19, 2026– Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Daniel H. Cook Associates, Inc. (“DHCA”), following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the filing, DHCA experienced a network disruption on or about October 17, 2025, which prompted an internal investigation with the assistance of cybersecurity experts. The investigation determined that certain files may have been accessed or acquired without authorization. DHCA later concluded that personal information belonging to a limited number of individuals may have been impacted.
The information potentially involved includes individuals’ names and Social Security numbers. DHCA reported that written notice was provided to approximately two Maine residents and that there is currently no evidence of misuse of the information.
DHCA stated that it implemented additional security measures and is offering 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services to affected individuals.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Daniel H. Cook Associates, Inc. implemented reasonable cybersecurity safeguards, whether the incident could have been prevented, and whether affected individuals may have legal claims.
