Cove Risk Services, LLC Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (December 15, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national law firm focused on data breach and consumer privacy litigation, is investigating a cybersecurity incident involving Cove Risk Services, LLC, following the company’s notification to the Office of the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the consumer notification letter, Cove Risk Services experienced a network disruption that led to the discovery of unauthorized access to or acquisition of data on or around May 3, 2025. Cove Risk Services provides workers’ compensation–related services to various organizations and maintains personal information in the ordinary course of business. After learning of the incident, the company engaged third-party specialists to investigate and determine the scope of the event. The review of potentially affected data was completed in November 2025, after which Cove Risk Services began preparing notifications to impacted individuals.
The information potentially involved varies by individual but may include first and last names in combination with additional sensitive personal data elements. Cove Risk Services reports that it has no evidence of misuse of the information at this time but issued notices out of an abundance of caution and in compliance with state law. Written notifications to affected individuals are dated December 12, 2025.
In response to the incident, Cove Risk Services states that to assist affected individuals, the company is offering 12 months of complimentary single-bureau credit monitoring and identity protection services through Cyberscout, a TransUnion company, which include credit monitoring alerts and fraud assistance at no cost.
Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Cove Risk Services, LLC maintained reasonable data security practices, whether the unauthorized access could have been prevented, and what legal rights or remedies may be available to those whose personal information was involved.
