Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Inc. (“CBMM”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
January 6, 2026– Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, Inc. (“CBMM”), following a notification filed with the Maine Attorney General.
According to the filing, CBMM became aware of suspicious activity in its IT environment on August 9, 2024. An investigation determined that an unauthorized actor gained access to certain CBMM systems between August 8 and August 9, 2024, and copied files stored on those systems. CBMM subsequently conducted a review to identify the contents of the affected files and the individuals to whom the information related.
The information potentially involved includes names, Social Security numbers, and financial account information. CBMM reported that written notice was provided to seven Maine residents on December 30, 2025. The organization also indicated that it notified law enforcement and is offering affected individuals 12 months of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services through IDX.
