Cetera Financial Group Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
March 27, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Cetera Financial Group following a notification filed with the Attorney General of Maine.
According to the notice, the incident involved unauthorized access to a single employee email account. The company discovered suspicious activity and launched an investigation, which determined that an unauthorized individual gained access to the email account between July 7, 2025, and August 21, 2025.
Following an internal review, the company determined on or around January 30, 2026, that certain personal information may have been involved. The information affected varied by individual but may have included names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account information.
Cetera Financial Group began providing written notice to approximately 57 Maine residents on or about March 25, 2026. The company has reported that it took steps to secure its systems, notified law enforcement, and is offering complimentary credit monitoring services to affected individuals.
