Benefits Management Group, Inc. (“BMGI”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 21, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data breach incident recently reported to the California Attorney General by Benefits Management Group, Inc. (“BMGI”), a firm that manages and administers pension and health plans across the United States.
According to the notice filed, BMGI became aware on November 26, 2024, of suspicious activity involving unauthorized access to its computer systems. A forensic investigation later confirmed that an unauthorized party copied certain files between October 24, 2024, and December 2, 2024. After a detailed file review, BMGI determined that sensitive personal information belonging to individuals affiliated with pension or health plans was impacted.
The affected information varied by individual but may have included names, Social Security numbers, and other personal identifiers. While there is no indication at this time that the information has been misused, BMGI is notifying impacted individuals and has offered complimentary Equifax Credit Watch™ Gold monitoring and identity restoration services.
BMGI stated that it has implemented additional security measures and notified appropriate regulators. Despite these steps, the risk posed to affected individuals remains serious due to the nature of the data accessed.
Federman & Sherwood is currently investigating whether BMGI took adequate steps to protect the personal information it was entrusted with and whether affected individuals are entitled to compensation.
The exposed information potentially included:
- Name
- Social Security number
- Date of birth
- Medical and health insurance information
- Other sensitive information
