Barr & Barr Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (December 5, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood, a national law firm focused on data breach and consumer privacy matters, is investigating a cybersecurity incident involving Barr & Barr, following the company’s recent filing with the Attorney General of Maine.

According to the filing and consumer notifications, Barr & Barr detected suspicious activity within its network and launched an internal investigation. The investigation later confirmed that an unauthorized third party accessed the network on September 4, 2025, and during this time files were copied out of the system. A subsequent review determined that personal information contained in the accessed files included names and Social Security numbers.

On December 4, 2025, Barr & Barr issued written notices to all individuals whose information was potentially involved. The company reports that, at this time, it has no evidence of identity theft or misuse, but is notifying individuals out of caution and compliance.

To assist affected individuals, Barr & Barr is offering one year of complimentary identity monitoring services through Kroll, which include credit monitoring, fraud consultation, and identity theft restoration services. Consumers were also provided detailed instructions on how to remain vigilant, obtain free annual credit reports, place fraud alerts or credit freezes, and report suspected identity theft to financial institutions, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Barr & Barr maintained reasonable cybersecurity safeguards, whether the breach could have been prevented, and what legal rights may be available to affected persons.

The compromised information may have included:

  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Other sensitive information
