Baker University Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (December 22, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data security incident involving Baker University, which was reported to the Attorney General of Maine.

According to the notification, Baker University discovered suspicious activity on its systems in December 2024 that resulted in a network outage. An investigation determined that unauthorized access to certain files and folders occurred between December 2, 2024, and December 19, 2024.

Baker University reported that the information potentially impacted includes names, Social Security numbers, and financial account information. Written notice was provided to affected individuals, including five Maine residents.

The university stated that it notified law enforcement, reviewed and enhanced its security measures, and is offering complimentary credit monitoring services through IDX to impacted individuals.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Baker University took appropriate steps to safeguard sensitive personal information and whether affected individuals may have legal claims arising from this incident.

The compromised information may have included:

  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Financial information
  • Other sensitive information
