American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (“AACN”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (September 2, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces that it is investigating a data breach involving the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN).
According to a notice filed with the Maine Attorney General, AACN discovered on July 31, 2025, that an unauthorized party had gained access to its website’s payment system. The investigation determined that payment card information associated with transactions on the AACN website was exposed beginning on March 8, 2025.
Approximately 186 Maine residents were identified as potentially impacted. On August 29, 2025, AACN mailed notification letters to affected individuals, offering two years of complimentary credit and identity monitoring services.
AACN reports that it has secured its payment system, engaged outside security experts, and implemented additional security enhancements to help prevent similar incidents in the future.
