American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (April 9, 2025) – On September 26, 2024, American Association of Colleges of Osteopathic Medicine detected unusual activity related to an employee email account. In response, AACOM immediately secured its email system and enlisted independent experts to conduct a thorough investigation. The investigation revealed that certain emails and attachments may have been accessed or acquired without authorization. Following this discovery, AACOM launched an in-depth review to assess the nature of the compromised information, identify the affected individuals, and gather their contact details. This process was completed on March 31, 2025, at which point AACOM began preparing notifications for those impacted.

In addition, the organization has implemented further security measures to strengthen its email environment and minimize the risk of a similar event occurring in the future. AACOM is also notifying potentially affected individuals and offering guidance on steps they can take to protect their personal information, as outlined above.
