American Associated Pharmacies (“AAP”) Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 13, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood announces it is investigating a data breach involving American Associated Pharmacies (“AAP”), following the organization’s filing of a data breach notification with the Attorney General of Maine.

According to the notification, AAP detected suspicious activity within its network on October 23, 2024, which was determined to be the result of a ransomware intrusion. The investigation revealed that an unauthorized actor gained access to AAP’s systems on October 13, 2024, and ultimately encrypted certain systems and downloaded data that may have included personal information.

AAP’s review determined that the compromised information could include individuals’ names and additional personal data elements, depending on the individual. While the organization has not received reports of identity theft related to the incident, AAP has mailed written notifications to impacted individuals and established support resources to assist them.

As part of its response, AAP engaged federal law enforcement and external cybersecurity firms and implemented additional network security enhancements, including expanded multifactor authentication, system resets, and upgraded monitoring tools. AAP is also offering affected individuals complimentary identity theft protection services through IDX, which include credit and CyberScan monitoring, identity theft insurance coverage up to $1,000,000, and access to certified identity restoration specialists.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether AAP took adequate steps to protect the personal information in its possession and whether affected individuals may be entitled to compensation, extended identity monitoring, or other legal remedies.

The compromised information may have included:

  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Other sensitive information
