Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (“Allianz”), Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (July 28, 2025) – The law firm of Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data breach involving Allianz Life Insurance Company of North America (“Allianz”), a Minneapolis-based financial services provider. The breach was reported to the Office of the Maine Attorney General and is believed to have resulted from an external system compromise (hacking) that occurred on July 16, 2025.
According to information provided by Allianz’s outside counsel, Eversheds Sutherland, the incident was discovered on July 17, 2025. While the total number of individuals affected—both nationwide and in Maine—remains unknown, Allianz has confirmed that sensitive personal information was involved. Specifically, the breach included personal identifiers such as names in combination with additional undisclosed data elements.
To address the potential risk to affected individuals, Allianz is offering 24 months of identity theft restoration and credit monitoring services through Kroll. Written notifications to impacted consumers are scheduled to begin on August 1, 2025. A placeholder consumer notice has been submitted, pending the identification of specific individuals affected.
Federman & Sherwood is actively investigating the scope of this breach, the data compromised, and the adequacy of Allianz’s response. The firm is seeking to determine whether affected individuals may be entitled to remedies under state and federal law.
