Ahtna, Inc. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (November 24, 2025) – Federman & Sherwood is investigating a data security incident involving Ahtna, Inc., an Alaska-based corporation, following the company’s formal data breach notifications filed with both the Attorney General of California and the Attorney General of Maine.

According to Ahtna’s regulatory filings, the company became aware of potential unauthorized access to information within its systems on July 28, 2025. Ahtna immediately secured its network and engaged external cybersecurity professionals to investigate. The investigation later confirmed that an unauthorized third party had accessed Ahtna’s systems between April 20, 2025, and June 1, 2025, ultimately acquiring certain files containing personal information.

A detailed review of the compromised files was completed on October 22, 2025, revealing that affected individuals’ data included names alongside additional sensitive personal information. Ahtna has begun issuing written notifications to impacted residents in California, Maine, and other jurisdictions, advising them of the incident and the types of information involved.

To assist affected individuals, Ahtna is offering 12 months of complimentary Experian credit monitoring and identity restoration services, along with guidance on fraud prevention, credit report monitoring, and identity theft protection. The company also reports that it is reviewing and updating internal policies and system safeguards to reduce the likelihood of future incidents.

Federman & Sherwood is investigating whether Ahtna had appropriate cybersecurity measures in place, whether the breach could have been prevented, and what rights affected consumers may have under California, Maine, and federal data protection laws.

The compromised information may have included:

  • Full name
  • Social Security number
  • Other sensitive information
