Eisen, Inc. Data Breach – Investigated by Federman & Sherwood
June 26, 2026 – Federman & Sherwood, a national consumer protection law firm, is investigating the Eisen, Inc. data breach, a cybersecurity incident involving unauthorized disclosure of sensitive personal information that was reported to the California Attorney General.
According to the notice, Eisen, Inc., a provider of unclaimed property compliance and escheatment services for third-party companies, discovered on December 12, 2025, that it had been the target of a sophisticated social engineering attack. A threat actor impersonated the California State Controller’s Office and fraudulently requested a file containing unclaimed property compliance records. Believing the request to be legitimate, an employee provided the requested file before the deception was identified. Upon discovering the incident, Eisen immediately took steps to contain the event.
The information potentially exposed includes individuals’ names, mailing addresses, email addresses, Social Security numbers, dates of birth, and information regarding unclaimed property balances.
The exposure of this combination of personal, financial, and identity information may increase the risk of identity theft, tax fraud, financial fraud, phishing attacks, and other forms of misuse.
Federman & Sherwood is actively investigating whether Eisen, Inc. implemented reasonable safeguards and employee verification procedures to protect sensitive personal information and whether this data security incident could have been prevented. The firm is also evaluating potential legal claims on behalf of individuals affected by the Eisen, Inc. data breach.
Eisen reported that it revoked the unauthorized party’s access to the shared file, removed the file from the sharing platform, implemented enhanced verification procedures for government data requests, provided additional employee training regarding impersonation attacks, notified the appropriate regulators, and is offering affected individuals twenty-four (24) months of complimentary Experian IdentityWorks credit monitoring and identity restoration services.
Consumers who received a notice regarding the Eisen, Inc. data breach or who believe their personal information may have been compromised are encouraged to monitor financial accounts, tax records, and credit reports for suspicious activity.
